Hybrids are great for helping drivers save money at the pump. Unfortunately, the addition of a battery and an electric motor, while helpful in reducing fuel consumption, typically increases the cost of the vehicle when compared to non-hybrid alternatives. So which hybrid vehicle really pays off in the long run?
Recently, the British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) asked that very same question. While the vehicle that first comes to mind is the Toyota Prius, the BCAA actually found that the winner for the hybrid that pays their owner back is the Mercedes-Benz S400 hybrid. For 2011, Mercedes-Benz will be making a number of upgrades to the M5-fighting E63 AMG sedan. This will include an additional 11 horsepower thanks to some updated tuning. That will bring total output up to 525 horsepower.
Not only has this mill been re-tuned for additional power, but according to Mercedes-Benz the latest model will also feature an improvement in fuel efficiency. [click to continue…]

For 2011, Mercedes-Benz has updated the R-Class crossover. Straddling that fine line between wagon and minivan, the R-Class’s mid-life update was intended to give it a little more of a masculine look, thanks to a front fascia borrowed from the likes of the GLK.
Most the of the exterior changes to the 2011 R-Class can be seen from the A-pillar forward, while the rest of the vehicle has not changed much from its predecessor. Mild updates have also been given to the R-Class’s dash, but again the majority of the interior is quite familiar, which isn’t a bad thing. [click to continue…]

It wasn’t long ago when the best diesel powered cars were reserved for markets outside of the United States, but that is quickly changing. With new fuel economy standards looming, even Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to bring more diesels Stateside, according to Baltimore, MD Mercedes.
Among these new diesels will be the Mercedes-Benz S350 BlueTec, which is slated to arrive in 2011. Powering this full-size luxury car is a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine producing 241 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. This unit will be mated to a seven speed automatic transmission and feature standard 4Matic all-wheel drive. [click to continue…]

In an all-new television commercial for the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan, Mercedes has decided to forgo its usually tame messaging in order to take a stab at Volkswagen.
The new commercial features a look-a-like of VW’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Ferdinand Piech, who plays the grim reaper in the commercial. This character attempts to put the driver in harms way, but ultimately the E-Class helps the driver avert disaster. [click to continue…]

In order to increase sales, Mercedes-Benz will begin offering even more body styles and drivetrains for its popular C-Class, according to Canonsburg Mercedes dealer.
Currently, the C-Class is available only as a sedan. But, in order to drive a 30 percent sales increase over the next five years, Mercedes will also add a coupe and convertible variant to the C-Class lineup. A crossover is also likely based on the next-generation B-Class. [click to continue…]

But first, the German automaker has initiatives several focus groups within the United States to gauge what consumers would want in an entry-level model.
